Harwell Amateur Radio Society (HARS) will be taking part in this year’s VHF National Field Day on the weekend of 7th-8th July. We will be entering all available bands in the Restricted Section of the Contest – something that the club has not done for nearly 30 years.
Organisation is well advanced for running the 5 bands and we have over a dozen volunteer operators for the weekend.
Setting up will commence from about 10am on Saturday 7th at Hagbourne Hill Farm. The contest lasts from 1500BST on Saturday until 1500BST on Sunday. We will be QRV on the following bands:
144MHz (24 hours)
432MHz, 1296MHz (24 hours)
50MHz (Saturday 1500BST - 2300BST)
70MHz (Sunday 0900BST - 1500BST)
Many club members will not have experienced a portable contest before – and we were all a lot younger when we last attempted an International Contest on this scale! We are hoping for good weather and fine propagation.
Why not come along and see what we are up to?
All pictures were taken at VHF NFD 2017 when we attempted 2 bands, one for 12 hours, one for 24 hours
Casual visitors are very welcome – why not bring a picnic and a camera? PLEASE KEEP DOGS ON A LEAD AND CHILDREN UNDER CONTROL
Anyone who would like to volunteer to help – setting up, logging, operating, making tea, taking it all down at the end etc please Contact Us. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
